Il giocattolaio Stephane Halleux

Questo artista designer di giocattoli in stile vittoriano mi rammenta certi vecchi artigiani oggi scomparsi nel nostro paese,ad esempio presso i Navigli di Milano c'era un giocattolaio abilissimo a riparare le bambole di qualsiasi epoca.
Altri tempi e comunque credo che oggi di persone come Stephane e la sua arte capace di conferire al giocattolo valenza d'arte e senso politico,abbiamo immensamente bisogno se non vogliamo accontentarci della produzione di massa made in Hong Kong e cosi mediocremente banale al tal punto che il nostro immaginario i nostri sogni d'infanzia intorno al giocattolo assumono una spropositata grandezza nel souvenir.

What awesome designer toys! French sculptor Stephane Halleux is the creator of this remarkable collection of victorian-age, steampunkish characters, engines and vehicles. They’re made from custom carved wood, metal flotsam & recycled parts. Would love to see a gallery show of Stephane’s work, along with replicas for sale too! I can’t imagine there wouldn’t be a market for these kinds of art toys.

Once upon a late evening, while cleaning my workroom, I realized how useful an assistant would be. Someone I could entrust with all the little tasks that were slowing down my work. From an old spin-dryer and an old German typewriter (cleanness, discipline) I created this robot. Pliers as left hand; blowlamp, cutting disd, drill grafted onto the right hand. This new companion quickly showed himself extremely gifted.

And it goes on from there - worth the read, he gives life to these already lively creatures.
